Out of the box, MacVim doesn’t have support for opening a file from the command-line like vim does, but mvim cli enables us to do the same thing. One of the great things about using vim is that you can simply type vim filename.md to open a file in vim from within the terminal.

When you download a snapshot of MacVim, you’ll find a compressed file that includes MacVim.app, mvim (a command-line tool) and a README file. To get a copy of MacVim, you can grab the latest snapshot here. One of the reasons why I started using MacVim was its built in support for the yank command to copy to the system’s clipboard.

Sadly, it's not the latest stable version so I'm going to update it to ^ 8.1.x. Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to make creating and changing any kind of text very efficient. colo solarized In MacVim, I see proper colors wothout any adjustment. I use it with the g:vimmarkdownmath set to 1 to I have kink of a LaTeX equation preview. I use Mac OS, iTerm, and vim, and unfortunately I dont know of too many resources. The plugin vim-markdown, that shows pretty markdown, like in emacs org-mode (the surrounding or are removed when your cursor is not on the line).
The most current version at this time of writing is Vim 8.1. The best flat theme for Vim, Atom, Sublime Text, Jetbrains Editors.

I spent like 30 mins trying to figure out how to install Vim when I first heard about it, so I'm saving you the wasted effort: Vim comes pre-installed in MacOS. You technically don't need to leave the Terminal to code.
